Karajan's first visit to North America with the B.P.O. was in February-March 1955.
Further tours with the B.P.O. were in 1956, 1961, 1965, 1974, 1976 and 1982
In 1958 he conducted 8 concerts with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and
in 1967, 1968 and 1969 was guest conductor at the Metropolitan Opera in New York
also conducting the B.P.O. in concerts there in 1967 and 1968.
In October-November 1955 he toured with the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Performances with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra were in 1959,
as part of their World Tour, and in 1989.
