Herbert von Karajan regularly conducted the works of Brahms, particularly the Symphonies and Ein deutsches Requiem, throughout his long career. He first conducted Symphony No 1 in Aachen in 1934 and it was in London on 6th October 1988 that he gave his last performance of the work.
